Nathan's First Father's Day

Walk a Little Slower Daddy

Walk a little slower, Daddy,
Said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps
And I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they are hard to see:
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.

Cooper was so excited to give Daddy presents on Father's Day, as you can tell from this picture. The day before I had helped Cooper make a finger painted cover to go around the pen holder for Daddy's desk. It turned out so cute. He gave that to his Dad along with the poem above
with painted prints of his feet that the daycare in Atlanta had made before we moved. Here is Coop giving Daddy presents.

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

A Quick Visit

My parents helped my brother move in June, the same weekend we were in Columbia, SC visiting Nate's family, which meant they were only a little over an hour away. Even though it added 3 hours to our driving time, and we only got to see them for a few hours, I begged, and Nate gave in, so Coop got to see his Grammie, Grandpa, and Aunt Cassady for the 2nd time (along with other family members, who live in Charlotte now too, so we get to see them all the time). It was too short of a visit, but so nice to see family, which I can never seem to get enough of.

Cooper Meets Family for First Time

The weekend of June 4-6th we traveled to Columbia, SC to visit Nathan's family for his cousin's graduation from high school. Most of the extended family in Boston travelled for the occasion as well, so Cooper was able to meet his Great-Grandparents, many Great-Aunts and Great-Uncles, 2nd Cousins, Great-Great Uncle, and such. It was SO fun to see them all, even if for such a short period of time. I was so worried that Coop would have stranger anxiety, which never makes family feel good, and I was also worried he would be over-stimulated by all the people, noise, and contstant goings-on. Quite the contrary! The little guy never fails to surprise me. He took right to everyone, smiling and being himself. He behaved so well all weekend. I was so proud of him, and so happy that we had such a good time.

It was like Christmas for Cooper. The family showered him with gifts of toys and clothes. He had a lot of fun exploring all his new toys. Thank you especially to Aunt Denise, Uncle Jim, Allison (for letting us use your room!), and Lyndsey, for letting us crash at your house. It was so nice to have the comforts of home for the baby.

We had such a great time seeing everyone and just hated to leave.

Memorial Day 2010--Creating Memories

Memorial Day this year was not so fun, but it was "memorial" in that we created some memories. We spent most of the day packing since we'd be out of town the next weekend and then moving the next. At least that night we got to have some friends over for a little bar-b-q. Roberta and Jared brought some ridiculously good food along with Cooper's playmate, Tessa. Too bad we all became friends just a month or so before we moved!!! I was so sad to leave when I finally found a good friend in Smyrna.
Here's Coop checking things out from the floor of the kitchen.

Coop and Tessa playing.
Cooper "taught" Tessa how to sit up on her own while they were over. She did it for the first time while they were playing together. Yay for Tessa!
