Without having anything planned beforehand, Memorial Day ended up being quite fun. We headed up to the mountains with nothing in mind besides maybe doing some hiking and a picnic. Without a map, we ended up not finding much hiking, but we did happen upon Tweetsie Railroad, a small children's amusement park with a real steam engine train. Cooper was ecstatic!

When we got on the train, we found out it didn't leave for the next ride for 20 minutes. Coop refused to get off, thinking he'd miss it. So we hung out for awhile.

Then we went on all the rides Coop could do. He loved driving these cars with his Dad.
Of course we had to ride the carousel...
...the helicopters...
...the airplanes...
...and the boats!
It was a pretty slow day for them, so we got to go on many of the rides again and again.
Cooper couldn't wait to go on the Ferris wheel. He giggled and squealed every time we went up higher than the trees.
We went to see one of their kids shows, and Cooper was chosen to help sing, "I've been workin on the railroad." He got really shy and embarrassed, and soon after I took these two pictures, he burst into tears and we ended up having to leave the show. It was pretty funny.
It was a great day together as a family, and ended up being really fun, especially since we hadn't planned much of anything. Yay for holidays where we get to enjoy our freedoms and be with our families!
