Our little family party planner, Camyll (my sister), planned a really fun little family Halloween party the Saturday before Halloween. Some of my siblings and their kids, my Aunt and Uncle, their kids and grandkids, my Grandpa and Grandma, my parents, Aunt Kaylene's sister Cheryl (who we call Aunt), and some of Camyll and Jason's friends and their kids were all in attendance and made it a great party. The kids played some fun games, including "Put the wart on the witch," a game that my Aunt Kaylene made when my cousin Shelisa was in kindergarten. Can't believe this little game is 25 years old--crazy! The kids loved playing with the pom-pom "warts."
My pictures are horrible because I only had my phone camera, but here's a fun little picture of the kids playing "Duck, Duck, Goose."
Everyone dressed up in costume for the party. I was feeling pretty "morning sick" and didn't take many pictures. Wish I'd have taken them of everyone! Here's a few at least. Grandpa and Grandma Christensen dressed up as a Chinese man and woman--so cute. Cassady and George dressed as some characters from the new Frankenweenie movie.
Grandma Christensen, Lacy (dressed as a sister missionary), and Chelsey (dressed as a pageant queen).
Cooper, Uncle Stettsen, and a child of one of Camyll's friends.
We had some great Halloween-themed food. I especially liked this 7-layer dip done up like a spiderweb (by Cassady).
Aunt Kaylene made a scarecrow out of veggies.
The water had floating "eyeballs," and there was a cauldron brewing with home-made rootbeer, with a claw-shaped ladle. We also had 4 different kids of soups, lots of other side dishes, and basically WAY more food than we could ever eat.
The next day also happened to be my Grandfather's 89th birthday, and my Uncle Boyd's birthday as well. We had a birthday cake to celebrate.
The birthday boys. (Uncle Boyd and Aunt Kaylene were dressed as a cute cowboy/cowgirl couple; wish I'd gotten a picture of Aunt Kaylene.)
The kids tried eating donuts from a string. Coop gave it a try.
Calvin did pretty good.
Calvin was a good sport, but Cooper and Jayden gave up and cheated.
The kids all got a cute little goodie box, thanks to Aunt Kaylene and Aunt Cheryl.
Here's Jason being a zombie hunter, while helping keep the kids under control.
It was a fun, memorable party. Thanks, Camyll, for putting it all together!
Also of note, was that poor little Keslee (5 yrs old) was playing with a balloon, fell on the wood floor, and hit her chin, splitting it open. She ended up going to the hospital with her mom, Shelisa, during the party, and made it back before the party ended, sporting 4 stitches. Poor Kes!
